Below were some comments and advice from Dr. David Jemison at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. He left us with this as part of the final course session of his career. Great guy and great advice.
1. Maintain personal integrity.
2. Seek accomplishments and not excuses. Accept responsibility for issues and defer kudos to your team.
3. Make a commitment to someone bigger...

Well, a few things have changed since Feb when I started this thing. First of all, I haven’t been writing in it as I originally intended. Anyway, I’ve also gone through the great excitement of getting engaged to Erin. We’ve got a website set up at <a href=”http://www.erinandaaron.com”>erinandaaron.com</a>, so that can be checked out. The date is...

This is the first post to the ol’ blog. Um… okay, an update. I graduated from Texas A&M in december and came up to oklahoma to start work for halliburton. I’ve been working there for a little over a month now… things are going slow to this point, but i imagine they’ll pick up. Anyway, erin’s up here with me right now… she’s going to look for...
I found my old blog
Pretty funny - there were only 2 entries posted to it. I started up a blog when I moved to Oklahoma in 2003 right after I graduated from college. I assumed that it vanished somehow, but on the internet nothing totally vanishes. I’ll repost the two entries for old time’s sake.

Step 1 Complete. Now what?
With my earlier ideas swirling around my head about social media capital and a desire to actually build something instead of talking about it, we did just that. Our secret team went ahead and “just made” a community environment where anyone in the company can share tips or interesting content or can ask questions and tap the resources of those who they would have never met otherwise -...

Social Media Equity
So, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what the heck I’m even doing with social media. I’ve always been interested in getting as much information in my head as efficiently as possible and from the best sources possible. When I had a window of opportunity to pursue an MBA in marketing, social media provided a flood of information and new concepts. I dove in head first since I...

– Persig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
As I listened to Merlin Mann and John Gruber talk about quality of content as the key to creating a successful blog (well, anything, really), I heard an echo of this exact thought. In Zen, Phaedrus, in his quest to define Quality, finds this way of...

Hmmm
Just got an email from a college friend with some business pitches. It seems pretty neat - I would handle the technical side and the actual graphic design, css, etc, and he would produce content and market. I’m always looking for ways to let some creative energy out so I may just take him up on it. On the other hand, I’m always pressed for time for side projects and I may start...

This was a pretty odd find. I followed the link from Merlin Mann’s daily video project. I am a pretty easy to get along with guy, I think. I have friends with shared interests, we hang out, whatever… but I don’t have a lot of great friends because of several reasons. For one, my interests are pretty diverse. I’m a chemical engineer and I know a lot about my job...

Hank, I know you’re not feeling well. You were the first dog we ever had that made us feel like a real family; a dog we all loved and that loved all of us. You showed us what a dog could be: a friend, a confidant, a pet to be proud of. I hope you can continue on and get better, but if not it’s ok. You did all that you could, and what you did was to be the smartest, most loyal, and most...
Family Portrait
really cool and technically inspiring family portrait video. i may try my hand at this, although of course the video quality wouldn’t be nearly as good.

aaron.erinandaaron.com launched!
I decided to go ahead and move my tumblr to erinandaaron.com in case I want to share any thoughts not directly related to the many adventures of mason and owen. I don’t have a ton of content to add at this point, but you can expect some posts on art, music, productivity, fatherhood, photography, technology, sports, or anything else I find interesting.
